Heroic Valour colt tops Capricornia Yearling Sale

Bought by Anthony Fenlon for $67,500 from draft of Raheen Stud

Sunday's Capricornia Yearling Sale was topped by a son of Heroic Valour (Fastnet Rock) who was bought by Anthony Fenlon for $67,500 from the draft of Raheen Stud. Catalogued as Lot 87, the colt is a half-brother to Listed winner Rocket To Glory (Shovhog) and four other winners. Further back this is the family of dual Group 1 winner Global Galmour (Star Witness). 

The top priced filly of the day was a daughter of Divine Prophet (Choisir) who was bought by Clinton Taylor Racing for $55,000. Sold as Lot 88, one lot after the sale topper, the filly is the first foal out of the unraced mare Fadetta (Rock Hard Ten) who is herself a daughter of Grade 1 winner Light Jig (Danehill) making her a half-sister to Grade 1 wiiner Seek Again (Speightstown), Grade 3 winner Treble Jig (Gone West) and Listed winner Scottish Jig (Speightstown). The filly was sold by Kenmore Lodge. 

Three lots made over $50,000 with a son of Kobayashi (I Am Invincible), who was purchased by Archer Park Racing and Liam Birchley, selling for $52,000. Sold by Waylon J Stud as Lot 32, the colt is the first foal out of Choisir (Danehill Dancer) mare Portland Place from the family of Group 2 winner Regal Crown (Don't Say Halo). 

Overall 72 of the 85 lots offered sold for a total of $1,452,000. The average was $20,167 and median sat at $20,000. No comparative figure are availble for 2020 with the sale hosted on Bloodstockauction.com due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Clinton Taylor Racing finished the sale as the leading buyer having spent $110,000 on three lots whilst Raheen Stud was the leading vendor selling 14 lots for $343,500.
