A colt by Cheveley Park-based sire Twilight Son (Kyllacy) and a colt by Galileo Gold (Paco Boy) - both consigned by Tally-Ho Stud - shared top honours at the Goffs UK Breeze-Up Sale on Thursday after they were both purchased for £210,000 apiece.

Catalogued as Lot 118, the colt son of Twilight Son was purchased by Michael O'Callaghan and he is out of dual winning Exceed And Excel (Danehill) mare My Lucky Liz, making him a half-brother to two winners.

My Lucky Liz herself is out of placed mare Areyaam (Elusive Quality) and she is the dam of seven winners, headed by Listed-winning Go Angellica (Kheleyf) and Bredenbury (Night Of Thunder).

Further back this is the same family as Princess Inca (Big Spruce) - the dam of dual Group 1 winner Germany (Trempolino).

The son of Galileo Gold was catalogued as Lot 178 - the last offering of the day - was bought by Ling Bloodstock.

The colt is the third foal out of York Express (Vale Of York), whose two winners are headed by Listed scorer Acklam Express (Mehmas).

Further back this is the same family as Group 3 winner Yalaietanee (Sadler’s Wells) and Group 1-winning former shuttler Dream Ahead (Diktat).

Earlier in the afternoon, a colt by former Coolmore Stud shuttler No Nay Never (Scat Daddy) was purchased by Blandford Bloodstock for £200,000.

Catalogued as Lot 74 and offered by Mocklershill, the colt is the second foal out of unraced Mastercraftsman (Danehill Dancer) mare Habbat Reeh and she is herself a half-sister to three-time Listed winner Boomshackerlacker (Dark Angel).

The colt also is from the same family as stakes winner Popular Tune (Stop The Music), who in turn produced Grade 3 scorer Top Hit (Twining).

No Nay Never has sired three top-flight winners Ten Sovereigns, South American Grade 1 winner Brooke and 1,000 Guineas (Gr 1, 1m) aspirant Alcohol Free, while he has sired one stakes winner in New Zealand; Need I Say More.

He shuttled to Coolmore’s Hunter Valley farm for four seasons between 2016 and 2019 but did not return last spring.

At the close of trade on Thursday, Goffs UK reported 128 two-year-olds sold for an aggregate of £6,219,500 at an average of £48,590. The median finished at £34,000. The number of six-figure lots posted a new record at 15 while turnover surged to over £6.2 million. The 2020 sale was delayed due to Covid-19 and therefore comparative statistics have not been done.

"This is an incredible business and today has been an amazing day. To have the ability to hold the sale on its original date and at its intended location was the first success. To then smash all records is something that we couldn't have envisaged in the lead up to this sale and the results are very positive for the industry and for our loyal vendors who really backed us with some very nice horses," said Goffs UK managing director Tim Kent.

"This sale has a brilliant record on the track and has produced five Royal Ascot winners since 2016, a fact that was not lost on buyers at any point today. We would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who purchased today, and we are sure that we will see many of them at Royal Ascot in eight weeks' time. In 2016, we saw two colts who shared the sale topping price - Prince Of Lir and Ardad - who went on to win the Gr.2 Norfolk Stakes and Listed Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot that year.

"We hope that that is a good omen for this sale and we would like to extend a big thank you to our vendors who provided us with a catalogue of real depth to market to our international audience, whilst we would also like to thank Doncaster Racecourse who produced superb ground to show our Breezers to maximum effect."
