Well-related one-time winner Hummalong (Hallowed Crown) was the headline act of the Inglis Digital April Late Online after Bert Veira went to $190,000 to secure the mare, who is now set for a date with Widden Stud-based sire Trapeze Artist (Sntizel).

Catalogued as Lot 102, the mare is out of four time-winning mare Humma Mumma (Bel Esprit), making a half-sister to unbeaten Listed-winning two-year-old Tycoon Humma (Capitalist) and Group 3 winner Humma Humma (Denman), who will take her chance in Saturday’s Robert Sangster Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) at Morphettville.

Meanwhile, Veira also purchased five time-winning Bel Esprit (Royal Academy) mare Zabelarina for $90,000 and she is also set for a date with Trapeze Artist, who Viera raced for the whole of his career.

Catalogued as Lot 141, the mare is a half-sister to Listed winner No Restriction (Unencumbered), while further back this is the same pedigree as multiple Group 1 winner Might And Power (Zabeel) and Group 3 scorer Matter Of Honour (Casual Lies).

“Those two mares really stood out to me,” Vieira said.

“Hummalong is from a very good family, a current family and I thought if I can buy it, it’ll be a bonus if the family can add more black-type especially a Group 1 this weekend.

“Both Hummalong and Zaberlarina have pedigrees free of Danehill and will go to Trapeze Artist this Spring at Widden Stud.

“I’ve been trading with Inglis Digital since the platform began in 2017, I am always looking at the catalogues, even if just to monitor what the market is doing and now it’s obviously very strong.”

Other results included three-year-old gelding Duke Caboom (More Than Ready) who was offered by Archie Alexander and bought by international buyer KK Bloodstock for $105,000, two-year-old colt Civil War (Choisir) was purchased by Australian Bloodstock from Newgate for $95,000 and the Yulong-consigned gelding Norway (Galileo) made $80,000, when bought by Lee Ann Imoden/Ciaron Maher Racing.

The April (Late) Online Sale also saw the 2021 turnover for the Inglis Digital platform surpass the $20 million mark.

“This is the seventh catalogue from eight so far this year, that has grossed in excess of $2 million,” Business Manager Nick Melmeth said.

“It’s incredible to have reached the $20 million dollar milestone in just four months, when you consider how busy the first half of the year is with live sales.

“Inglis Digital has now turned over more than $110 million since 2018 and we’ve reached a milestone of 100 lots to have sold for $100,000 or more.

“It’s not hard to reason why the platform is so successful however, when you consider that over 675 races in Australia have been won by Inglis Digital graduates since the start of the year.

“It proves that Inglis Digital continues to be the industry leader in online Thoroughbred auctions in every respect.”
