New Zealand Oaks winner to be offered on Gavelhouse Plus.

The 2020 New Zealand Oaks (Gr 1, 2400m) winner and last season's New Zealand Bloodstock 3YO Filly of the Year, Jennifer Eccles (Rip Van Winkle), is set to be sold on the Gavelhouse Plus online platform next month.

The winner of four of her 14 starts and placed on another six occasions, Jennifer Eccles was bought for NZ$5,000 by Adrian Clark Bloodstock Consultancy at the 2017 New Zealand Bloodstock National Weanling Sale. 

Her biggest victory came in last year's New Zealand Oaks and she also won the Lowland Stakes (Gr 2, 2100m) and the Fillies Classic (Gr 2, 2000m) and placed second in the New Zealand One Thousand Guineas (Gr 1, 1600m). 

"Jennifer has had some niggly issues as a four-year-old and I've decided it's in the best interests of the horse and the big syndicate who own her, that she be offered to the marketplace via Gavelhouse Plus at this time," said Clark who managed the filly for the Challenge TEN Syndicate. 

"Jennifer Eccles is something of a rare commodity. 

"With so many mares of her ilk having been sold at both the Gold Coast and Sydney recently, a Group One winner who is still only four is extremely hard to buy right now. 

"She is a delightful mare, beautiful temperament, well made and it should be noted that she was the Leading New Zealand three-year-old filly on the 2019/2020 International Ratings."

Trained throughout her career by Shaune Ritchie and Colm Murray from their Cambridge base, Jennifer Eccles is being prepared for sale by Adrian Stanley and Hannah Kettlety at their Woburn Farm near Cambridge. She comes with a breeding certificate and height certificate.

By Rip Van Winkle (Galileo), the mare is out of Listed placed Platinum Elle (Elnadim) while her third dam is the dual Group Two winner Waikiki (Crested Wave), while further back this is the family of the two-time Hong Kong Sprint (Gr 1, 1200m) winner Sacred Kingdom (Encosta De Lago).
