New record sale price while 15 lots sell for $100,000 or more on Day 1

On a day when a new record sale price was achieved at the Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale on Sunday, a total of 15 lots sold for $100,000 or more. During the first day of the sale, 175 lots sold at a clearance rate of 76 per cent while the average finished at $35,457 and the median was $18,000.

Deep Field (Northern Meteor) finished the day as the leading sire by average (with three or more lots sold) having had four weanlings sell for $47,000 at an average of $118,750. BBT Breeding And Racing, who bought the top priced Zoustar (Northern Meteor) filly was the leading buyer having spent $454,500 on three lots while Burnewang North topped the vendors table by average having sold three weanlings at an average of $120,000 while Rushton Park headed the table by aggregate having sold 11 lots for $790,000.

Inglis' General Manager of Bloodstock Sales and Marketing Sebastian Hutch was full of praise for the efforts of buyers and vendors in contributing to a successful sale despite the difficult conditions.

"Given the trying circumstances, all participants have had to work particularly hard to make the sale happen, so it's a relief to see so many positive results," Hutch said.

"Buyers who have put their best foot forward and worked through their inspections have been rewarded by vendors putting plenty of nice horses in front of them and I have no doubt there will be a number of success stories to come out of this sale in years to come.

"There is certainly plenty of value to be found and that will continue to be the case through tomorrow, with the supplementary catalogue further complementing what was already a very appealing book.

"On top of that, we have some fantastic fillies and mares to offer tomorrow, including the sister to Incentivise, a quality race mare in Too Good Too Hard and mares in foal to the likes of Capitalist, Extreme Choice and Night Of Thunder.''
