A colt from the first crop of Coolmore Australia shuttler Justify (Scat Daddy) was one of the top lots to sell during the first session of the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select Yearling Sale on Monday, while Mick Price Racing bought one lot in Saratoga on Monday evening, a colt by War Front (Danzig) for US$250,000.

Sold by Eaton Sales as Lot 36, the colt is a brother to stakes winner Alkaraama and the stakes placed pair King Neptune and Faydhan, being out of Agreeable Miss (Speightstown) who, to date, has produced six winners from as many foals to race.

The top priced lot by Justify and the third most expensive colt to sell on Monday evening was Lot 45. The second foal out of Grade One winner Bar Of Gold (Medaglia d'Oro), the colt was bought by Travis Durr as agent for David Hudson for US$825,000.

He was sold by Becky Thomas' Sequel New York as agent for breeders Chester and Mary Broman.

"It's always really special for me to sell for the Bromans," said Thomas.

"Particularly with these kinds of families. I broke and trained the colt's mother and grandmother. It's just so nice, so special.

"He's a big, beautiful colt. He looks like Justify. He stands over a lot of ground and this guy has a great mind."

Justify had four lots sell on Monday for a total of US$2,270,000 at an average of US$567,500 and a median of US$547,500. Justify will stand for a fee of $55,000 (inc GST) this spring and his first Australian-bred crop will sell as the yearling sales in 2022.

Justify's barnmate American Pharoah (Pioneerof The Nile) also enjoyed a successful sale on Monday with a filly out of stakes winning More Than Ready (Southern Halo) mare Funfair, Lot 102,  selling to Red Bud Llc for US$700,000.

Funfair has produced three winners from as many foals to race to date headed by Grade Two winning colt Four Wheel Drive - a son of American Pharoah.
