The United Stakes colt tops August Two-Year-Old Sale

Sells to Al Khayal Breeders for R700,000 at the Bloodstock South Africa Sale on Friday

A colt, named Kashkaval, by The United States (Galileo) out of winning mare Kashmira (Trippi) topped the opening day of the Bloodstock South Africa August Two-Year-Old Sale on Friday when bought by Al Khayal Breeders for R700,000 (approximately $64,000). 

The colt’s second dam is Grade Two winner Gay Regina (Sportsworld) who has produced eight winners headed by Bulsara (Silvano). The colt was sold by Maine Chance Farms who finished the session as the leading vendor by average (with three or more lots sold) having sold three juveniles at an average of R336,667. 

Two lots sold for R500,000; a colt and filly both by Rafeef (Redoute’s Choice). The filly is out of Australian-bred mare Modern Muse (Encosta De Lago) and from the family of Fashions Afield (Redoute’s Choice) and was bought by Vermaak Equine. The colt meanwhile was bought by Arun Chadha and is out of the winning Trippi (End Sweep) mare Massachusetts. 

Rafeef finished the day as the leading sire by average with five lots selling for R1,870,000 at an average of R374,000.  

Form Bloodstock was the leading buyer having spent R1,220,000 on five lots.
