Sells for R1.2 million on day two of the Bloodstock South Africa August Two-Year-Old Sale

A colt by the Freeman Stallions-based sire Dynasty (Fort Wood) topped the second and final day of the Bloodstock South Africa August Two-Year-Old Sale on Saturday when he was bought for R1.2 million (approximately $110,000) by Form Bloodstock. 

Named Herero Secret, the colt is out of the Grade Two winner Welwitschia (Oasis Dream) and is a half-brother to four winners. 

The most expensive filly sold on Saturday was Maggie Smith (What A Winter) who was bought by Wendy Whitehead for R850,000.  

Overall 275 of the 299 lots offered (91%) were sold for a total of R39,240,000. The average finished up 16 per cent from the 2020 renewal at R143,054. The median also rose from a year ago, up 29 per cent, to R90,000 from R70,000.

Dynasty finished the sale as the leading sire by average with three lots having sold for R1.72 million at an average of R573,000. Wilgerbosdrift were the leading vendors by aggregate having sold 19 two-year-olds for R6,175,000 at an average of R325,000. 

Form Bloodstock meanwhile were the leading buyers having spent R4.63 million on 14 lots.
