Group winning three-year-old filly Penja (Camelot), who holds an entry in Sunday's Prix de l'Opera (Gt 1, 1800m) topped Saturday's Arqana Arc Sale when bought for €1.2 million by Blandford Bloodstock.

Sold as Lot 11, the Jean Claude Rouget-trained daughter of Camelot (Montjeu) has won three times including the Prix de Psyche (Gr 3, 2000m) and also finished second in the Prix de la Nonette (Gr 2, 2000m) at Deauville in August. She is a half-sister to Listed winner Taos (Toronado) being out of the unraced mare Just With You (Sunday Break). Penja was bought for €90,000 at the Arqana October Yearling Sale two years ago.

"She has been purchased for Mr Jurgen Sartori, a German client of mine," Blandford Bloodstock's Stuart Boman. "We are very excited to get her.  She was the number one item in the sale. It's all about next year with her. She's an exceptional filly, with a great turn of foot. We are very happy."

The second most expensive lot of the day was Saiydabad (Blame) who was boguht by Narvick International for €575,000.  The Aga Khan Studs offering had finished seventh earlier in the day behind Dubai Honour (Pride Of Dubai) in the Prix Dollar (Gr 1, 2000m) at Longchamp.

Overall 19 lots changed hands for a total of €4,975,000. The average of €261,842 was slightly down on the 2020 figure of €277,273 while the median fell 38 per cent from €260,000 a year ago to €160,000 when 11 lots sold for €3,050,000.
