A total of 26 lots sold for seven figures during Fasig-Tipton's The November Sale which was held in Lexington on Tuesday, with the session topper being Magical World (Distorted Humor) who was bought for US$5.2 million by Whisper Hill Farm and Three Chimneys Farm.

The sale established a new record gross, selling more than US$100,000,000 in the single session for the first time in the sale's history, including 26 fillies and mares which sold for US$1,000,000 or more.

Grade One producer Magical World was offered in foal to leading sire Into Mischief (Harlan's Holiday) and was sold by Hill 'n' Dale Sales Agency, agent. The 11-year-old mare has produced four winners from four to race, including multiple Grade One winning millionaire Guarana (Ghostzapper); Grade Two placed stakes winner Magic Dance (More Than Ready); and current three-year-old winner Beatbox (Pioneer of the Nile).

"[It was a] remarkable evening tonight," said Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning. "We were so fortunate to have a tremendous group of horses… It was almost impossible to believe the quality of horses on the grounds."

Record-setting Kentucky Oaks (Gr 1, 9f) winner Shedaresthedevil (Daredevil) topped the racing/broodmare prospects on offer, selling for $5,000,000 to Whisper Hill Farm, Flurry Racing, and Qatar Racing from the consignment of Hunter Valley Farm, agent. The four-year-old daughter ran the fastest Kentucky Oaks in history, going nine furlongs in 1:48.28.

Eclipse Champion Swiss Skydiver (Daredevil) was the sale's top broodmare prospect, selling for US$4.7 million to Katsumi Yoshida from the consignment of Runnymede Farm, agent.

"Our friends from Japan have become a major component of this sale," said Browning when asked about the high level of participation from Japanese buyers. "We live in a global world and we're fortunate that we have a global marketplace here.

"We were supported by an unbelievable cross section of horses from an unbelievable cross section of consignors and owners," added Browning. "That's what it's all about: it's the quality of horses that you have the opportunity to sell, and we were fortunate tonight to have an all-star cast of offers and support (from) a tremendous buying base from all over the world. I couldn't be any more pleased."

Australian buyers were also active during Tuesday's sale. Julian Blaxland and Rosemont Stud went to US$1.375 million for GB-bred Lope De Vega (Shamardal) four-year-old filly La Dragontea. La Dragontea won the Canadian Stakes (Gr 2, 9f) at Woodbine on September 18 and finished second in the EP Taylor Stakes (Gr 1, 10f) at Woodbine on October 17.
