Aggregate surpasses that reached during the 2019 sale with one day left to go

A total of 261 mares, fillies and foals sold during the second day of the Arqana December Breeding Stock Sale on Sunday with strong results recorded, continuing on from Saturday's record-breaking opening session. 

A total of 79% of the lots offered changed hands on Saturday, at an average price of €32,466, generating a turnover of €6,655,500. In 2020, 135 lots sold during the session at an average of €28,900, median of €23,000 and aggregate of €3,901,500. 

Overall, eight lots sold for €100,000 or more on Sunday and the sale aggregate reached €39,202,500, compared to €30,385,500 during the very successful 2019 edition. 

Two lots sold for €180,000 on Sunday, the first of these being Dansili (Danehill) mare Sisila who was bought by Oceanic Bloodstock. Offered from Wertheimer & Frere in foal to their homebred stallion Shaman (Shamardal). The mare is out of the two time Group One winner Silasol (Monsun). 

The second lot to sell for €180,000 came shortly later when the half-brother to Group Two winner Boscaccio (Mount Nelson) was bought by Haras du Meautry. The weanling was offered by Haras du Hoguenet and is by New Bay (Dubawi) from the further family of multiple Group One winner Treve (Motivator). 

Nick Bell, the manager of Haras de Meautry, explained, "I've bought him for Baron Edouard de Rothschild, and he'll be trained by Andre Fabre. He's a lovely colt with a great pedigree page and has a lot of quality." 

Australian buyers continued their activity with Catheryne Burggeman, Paul Moroney Bloodstock and Perry Sambor going to €25,000 for three-year-old Iffraaj (Zafonic) mare Damned.
