Thursday's third session of the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale saw a record breaking day with eight lots selling for seven figures and a colt by Yarraman Park's I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit) topping proceedings when bought for $1.9 million by Tom Magnier.

During the first three days of selling, 516 of the 553 lots offered sold for $154,112,500. The aggregate is sitting 14.7 per cent higher than a year ago while the average has increased 16 per cent from $257,471 to $298,668. The median has shown the biggest gain, up 28 per cent from $180,000 in 2021 to $230,000. The clearance rate stands at 94 per cent compared to 88 per cent last year.

Four lots sold for $1 million or more on Wednesday and following Thursday's sale 12 lots have now made seven figures.

Ciaron Maher Bloodstock is the leading buyer having spent $9,790,000 on 25 lots, ahead of Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott and Kestrel Thoroughbreds who have bought 20 yearlings for $8,495,000.
Newgate Farm, who sold Thursday's session topper, is the leading vendor by aggregate having sold 27 lots for $11,720,000 ahead of Widden Stud who have sold the same number of horses for $9,265,000. By average, Silverdale Farm is the leading vendor with their four offerings averaging $743,750.

The last crop of Arrowfield Stud's Not A Single Doubt (Redoute's Choice) has proved popular with his seven lots sold so far averaging $717,143 while Yarraman Park's I Am Invincible (Invincible Spirit), who has had four million dollar lots so far, has had 29 yearlings sell for an average of $587,069.

"It was a boomer," Magic Millions managing director Barry Bowditch reflected this evening. "It's one of the best days of trade we've ever had here at Magic Millions."

"With eight million dollar lots, a record average and the clearance rate has held solid like yesterday at 94 per cent.

"From start to finish today it was strong, vibrant and it was exciting.

"The colt fund buyers are really stepping in. They've got a lot of faith in this sale – this is where you buy your next colt that's going to go out and win the Golden Slipper or win a Group One.

"I'm just delighted in where the market is at and buyers are coming from everywhere at all numbers," Bowditch added.
