Breeding rights bought for four-time Grade 1 winner.
Gainesway Farm in Kentucky has secured the breeding rights for multiple Grade 1 winner McKinzie (Street Sense).
The son of Street Sense (Street Cry) was bought for US$170,000 at the 2016 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. To date the Bob Baffert-trained colt has won eight of his 16 career starts with his Grade 1 victories coming in the Futurity Stakes (Gr 1, 8.5f) at two, as a three-year-old he added the Pennsylvania Derby (Gr 1, 9f) and Malibu Stakes (Gr 1, 7f) and then added the Whitney Stakes (Gr 1, 9f) at Saratoga last August at four.
"It is very exciting to stand a horse with McKinzie's credentials at Gainesway," said bloodstock director Alex Solis II.
"I don't believe there is a more exciting prospect than McKinzie out there. We are grateful to Mike Pegram, Karl Watson, Paul Weitman, and Bob Baffert for this fantastic opportunity."
McKinzie is the best of six winners out of the dual Grade 2 winner Runway Model (Petionville), a US$2.7 million purchase by Summer Wind Farm at the 2006 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale. His second dam is dual Listed winner Ticket To Houston (Houston) who produced eight winners including Listed winner Mambo Train (Kingmambo) and is the grandam of Grade 3 winners Saham (Lemon Drop Kid), Southern Honey (Colonel John) and Lucky Player (Lookin At Lucky).
Winner of the Triple Bend Stakes (Gr 2, 7f) at Santa Anita earlier this month, McKinzie's next start is likely to be the Metropolitan Handicap (Gr 1, 8f) on July 4.
