Having finished second in the Sir Cat Stakes (Listed, 6f) on his most recent start last month, Turned Aside (3 c ex Sustained by War Front) handled the step in class with ease when he landed the Quick Call Stakes (Gr 3, 5.5f) at Saratoga and in the process became stakes winner number nine for Coolmore Stud shuttler American Pharoah (Pioneerof The Nile).

The Linda Rice-trained three-year-old colt beat Old Chestnut (Speightstown) by a length and three-quarters with another neck back to Fore Left (Twirling Candy) in third.

The colt is out of Grade 3-placed Sustained (War Front), further back his third dam produced Listed-winning Sungold Skippy (Skip Away).

Turned Aside’s fourth dam is three-time winner All For Amy (Go Marching) - the dam of Grade 3 winner Amy Be Good (Northern Raja), who in turn produced Good And Tough (Carson City) and Listed winner Flashy Four (Storm Cat). Flashy Four also produced Foxtrot Charlie (English Channel).

American Pharoah, whose first Australian runners hit the track next season and his progeny is headed by Grade 2 winner Sweet Melania and Four Wheel Drive and he will stand at Coolmore's Jerrys Plains base for a fee of $55,000 (inc GST) in 2020.
