Leading sire Tapit has fee dropped from US$200,000 to US$185,000

Gainesway Farm in Kentucky has announced that leading sire Tapit (Pulpit) will stand for a reduced fee of US$185,000 in 2021, down from US$200,000 this year, a drop of 7.5 per cent. 

"It has always been Gainesway’s goal to provide breeders with quality and value. The current economic climate that breeders are facing makes this more important than ever," said Gainesway CEO Antony Beck.

"Our stallion roster offers a diverse group of established stallions and exciting young studs who look to establish a new era at Gainesway."

Tapit heads the seven-strong roster with new recruit McKinzie (Street Sense) standing for a fee of US$30,000. Trained by Bob Baffert, McKinzie won four times at Grade 1 level including the Futurity Stakes (Gr 1, 8.5f) as a juvenile, then added the Pennsylvania Derby (Gr 1, 9f) and Malibu Stakes (Gr 1, 8f) at three and won the Whitney Stakes (Gr 1, 9f) last year. 

"I am excited about beginning this new chapter in the Gainesway stallions with McKinzie. His accolades on the racetrack speak for themselves with his brilliance and race record, I couldn’t think of a better prospect to bring to Gainesway to compliment our champion sire Tapit."

Tapwrit (Tapit) will stand for US$10,000, down from US$12,500, whilst Karakontie (Bernstein) and Tapizar (Tapit) will both stand for unchanged fees of US$10,000. The Gainesway roster is completed by Afleet Alex (Northern Afleet) whose fee remains at US$6,500 whilst Anchor Down (Tapit) is standing for US$5,000, reduced from US$7,500 in 2020.
