Darley America will stand 11 stallions at their Jonabell Farm in Kentucky next year including new additions Speaker's Corner (Street Sense) and Mystic Guide (Ghostzapper) who will stand for US$20,000 and US$15,000 respectively.

Trained by Bill Mott, Speaker's Corner won the Grade 1 Carter Handicap (7f) at Aqueduct in April, while the Michael Stidham-trained Mystic Guide won last year's Group 1 Dubai World Cup (2000m).

"We've been very fortunate in the last two years to have produced five high-level performers and it's even more gratifying that they are all homebreds," said Darley sales Manager Darren Fox.

"Following last year's retirement of Essential Quality and Maxfield, to again be able to add more top-caliber horses is very, very exciting."

Darley America's roster is headed by Medaglia d'Oro (El Prado) who will stand for US$100,000 for the second consecutive year, having stood for US$150,000 in 2021. The sire of 166 stakes winners including 26 Group / Grade 1 winners, Medaglia d'Oro has enjoyed another successful year on the track with his progeny including his Australian-bred son Golden Sixty who added another Group 1 race to his record in the Champions Mile (1600m).

Essential Quality (Tapit) and Street Sense (Street Cry) also both stand for unchanged fees of US$75,000.

Midshipman (Unbridled's Song) meanwhile has been subject to a substantial fee increase to US$20,000, up from U$10,000. The sire is enjoying another successful year in 2022, with his son Fortino providing him with his fifth Grade 1 winner, while Royal Ship and Success have both won at Grade 2 level for their sire this year. Midshipman is the sire of 51 stakes winners to date overall.

"Optimism abounds currently in the Thoroughbred industry," said Fox.

"The sales are strong, purses are strong, and close to home, we experienced unprecedented demand during the 2022 booking season. With all these positives, only one of our stallions will see a fee increase for 2023 and that's Midshipman, who continues to go from strength to strength in his stud career."

The fee and retirement plans for Grade 1 winner Cody's Wish will be made after next month's Breeders' Cup.
