Successful sire Zariz has died suddenly at Kooringal Stud at Wagga in NSW.
Zariz died on Sunday of a suspected heart attack at the age of 21.
"Zariz covered two mares the previous day and was in wonderful condition, so his death has come as a great shock us all," said stud principal Stuart Lamont.Zariz sired progeny have earned $18 million in prizemoney with highlight horses being Lazer Sharp, Shiraz, Riziz and Zaratone.
To date he has sired 301 winners of 986 races with his progeny earning an average of $40,000 per starter.
