A record 68 sires are represented in the catalogue including progeny by exciting interstate based stallions Dundeel, Fighting Sun, Epaulette, Star Witness, the late Hinchinbrook, Charge Forward, Squamosa, Super One, Poet’s Voice, Toronado and Turffontein.

Buyers will also be hot for the progeny of Tasmania’s leading sire for the past six years Wordsmith, his rising challenger Needs Further and promising second season sire Mawingo.

There are 21 lots by Armidale Stud’s Needs Further, a sire creating huige interest due to the rise of his star filly Mystic Journey, favourite for next Saturday’s G1 Australian Guineas at Flemington.

The Adam Trinder-trained filly, a multiple Listed and Group winner in Melbourne, cost only $11,000 at the 2017 Tasmanian yearling sale.

She has won eight of her 11 starts for over $400,000 in prizemoney.

Needs Further’s well-related yearlings in this year’s sale include a colt from the Giants Causeway mare Stepaway, one of 37 lots to be offered by Armidale Stud.
