Godolphin have announced stud plans for Group One winner Kementari.

The rising 5YO will stand alongside his sire Lonhro at Darley’s Kelvinside Stud in the NSW Hunter Valley this spring.

The Godolphin team resolved retirement plans for Kementari after his last start when he finished a disappointing last of seven in the G1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) at Randwick on March 9.

Kementari showed huge talent as a young colt, recording a four lengths win over 1400m at Randwick at his second start as a 2YO.

At three his highlights included his G1 win in the Randwick Guineas and a close second to Mighty Boss in the G1 Caulfield Guineas.

He also won the G2 Hobartville Stakes and G3 Eskimo Prince Stakes and was placed in the G2 Run To The Rose and G3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude.

In the Randwick Guineas he beat G1 stars Trapeze Artist, Pierata, D’Argento and Ace High in record time by the widest margin since the race was moved to its present format and course.

He also finished third behind Winx and Hapy Clapper in the G1 George Ryder Stakes at Rosehill and over the last 12 months has added a string of G1 placings in the Memsie Stakes, C.F. Orr Stakes and Manikato Stakes.

Kementari, by Lonhro from the winning Redoute’s Choice mare Yavanna, wil stand for a fee of $33,000 including GST this spring.

“The point that can’t be made strongly enough is his dominance as a three-year-old,” said Darley’s Head of Sales Alastair Pulford. “You need only look at the quality of the horses that finished behind him in the Randwick Guineas to see the sort of horse he is.

“And this horse will be as good a looking son of Lonhro as there is at stud.”

Kementari has won four of his 19 starts from 1200m to 1600m plus eight placings, earning $1,902,350.

He attained a Timeform rating of 125 as a 3YO, second only to Trapeze Artist (126) among Australian three-year-olds, and this season holds a Timeform performance rating of 123.
