The son O’Reilly will be the foundation sire at Yulong Farm, the new Victorian base for the expanding breeding interests of Yulong Investments.

Grunt won five of his 12 starts and $1,382,450 prizemoney after being purchased from the 2016 New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale at Karaka for $NZ220,000 by Price and Cameron Cooke Bloodstock.

He won four successive races as a 3YO including the G1 Australian Guineas and returned as a 4YO last spring to win the G1 Makybe Diva Stakes beating eight G1 winners.

He retires with a Timeform rating of 123.

Grunt is one of three winners out of Ruqquya, a Van Nistelrooy half-sister to New Zealand Horse of the Year Ocean Park (Thorn Park).
