The purchase of the Morningside property will enable see Woodside Park to streamline its current operations in order to deliver a sustainable future for the organisation.
“The long-term future for Woodside Park Stud will see all of its breeding operations relocate to the new site, while we continue to upgrade our broodmare band and add new quality stallions to the Victorian market,” said Woodside CEO and principal Mark Rowsthorn.
“With ongoing investment in bloodstock and property the business is well placed to maintain its position as Victoria’s leading commercial breeding operation.”
Woodside Park Stud’s pre-training operation in Tylden has been listed for sale.
The property contains world class stables, 80 horse boxes, an office complex, 1850m pro-ride track, 1800m grass track, water walker, 2 x horse walkers, a 60m swimming pool and 60 spelling paddocks.
The Woodside Park Stud’s stallion roster led by Victoria’s champion sire Written Tycoon will remain at the Tylden property this spring before gradually re-locating to Morningside Farm in coming years.* Lonhro’s WA based sire son Demerit has been relocated to Rangeview Stud at Burekup following the recent passing of Taunton Vale Stud principal Kent Johnston.
Demerit, sire of stakes winning 2YOs Pippa and Kiss Bang Love, had stood for eight seasons at Taunton Vale and boasts a healthy 62.4% winners-to-runners ratio.
Nina Johnston of Taunton Vale made the decision to syndicate the horse and relocate him but remains in the ownership with shareholders including Rangeview Stud, Geisel Park Stud, Bellbridge Park and trainer/breeder Brett Pope.
Demerit will stand the 2019 season on a fee of $6050 including GST.
