Entries Open For Gold Coast Breeze Up Sale

A round-up of news briefs from the breeding industry.

Entries are open for the 2019 edition of the Magic Millions Gold Coast 2YOs in Training Sale.

To sale will be held at the Gold Coast on October 15 and 16 after four breeze up sessions at three venues.

Last year’s sale saw 32 lots sell for $100,000 or more and was the Australasian industry leader producing the highest clearance rate. The top price was $320,000.

In 2018 the sale boasted an outstanding depth to the buying bench with 25 per cent of sales heading to Hong Kong. The domestic market accounted for 30 per cent with an average price of over $74,000 - 24 per cent up on 2017.

There were 87 individual buyers for 131 sold over two days.

Entries for the 2019 Magic Millions Gold Coast 2YOs in Training Sale close on July 26.

Breeze Ups wil be held at Warwick Farm on September 16; Seymour on September 20 and the Gold Coast on September 23 and October 11.

* A supplementary catalogue of 74 lots has been added to the Great Southern Sale on Sunday in Melbourne.

Among the additions is Queen Of The World (Sea The Stars) in foal to leading European sire Siyouni and a strong contingent of weanlings from Aquis Farm taking the overall catalogue to 945.

The supplementary entries come on top of a catalogue featuring 530 weanlings, 285 broodmares, 54 racing stock, one stallion and one stallion share.

Weanlings by 137 individual stallions, including 33 first season sires, are catalogued.

The Great Southern Sale will also see young stallion Alpine Eagle represented by six members of his first crop.

A brilliant winner of four of his 12 starts including the G2 Autumn Classic and second in the G1 Australian Guineas, Alpine Eagle has been well supported in his first two years at stud in Tasmania.

Another stallion of interest is Cable Bay, who has enjoyed a sensational start to his first crop European runners, siring seven individual juvenile winners and currently sitting on top of the European First Season Sire table bv prizemoney, wins and winners.

He has five weanlings to be offered at the upcoming Inglis Great Southern Sale.

One of the fastest two-year-old’s by champion sire of sires Invincible Spirit, Cable Bay returns for his third season at Woodside Park Stud in Victoria this spring.

* Encosta De Lago’s classy G1 winning son Delago Deluxe has found a new home and will stand the upcoming breeding season at Lucas Bloodstock.

Delago Deluxe has sired 27 winners this season and is the sire of 60 individual winners.
