Amazing Maria added to the rapidly growing credits for her sire Mastercraftsman after she landed her second successive Group One win in the Prix Rothschild at Deauville last Sunday.

The David O’Meara-trained 4YO brought a halt to French classic winner Ervedya's undefeated season when she surged clear to score by 1.25 lengths.

Ervedya, the French One Thousand Guineas and Coronation Stakes winner, was taking on older opponents for the first time in the 1600m feature.

Amazing Maria recorded her third win from five starts this year, having previously won the G2 Duke of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot before her first G1 success in the Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket on July 10.

O'Meara took over the training of the mare from Ed Dunlop after he won two races with her as a 2YO. She was transferred to O’Meara after a winless 3YO season.

Irish-bred Amazing Marie was produced by US-bred mare Messias Da Silva, a daughter of Tale Of The Cat, and was purchased for $US700,000 at the 2007 Fasig-Tipton Florida selected 2YOs in training sale by her owner Sir Robert Ogden.

Mastercraftsman, by Danehill Dancer, was Europe’s champion first crop sire in 2013 and second crop sire in 2014.

The four time G1 winner is also the sire of Kingston Hill (G1 Racing Post Trophy & G1 St Leger winner), The Grey Gatsby (G1 French Derby & G1 Irish Champion Stakes winner) and European Group winners Craftsman, Vague Nouvelle, Master Carpenter, Master Apprentice and Iveagh Gardens.

Mastercraftsman shuttled from Coolmore Ireland to Windsor Park Stud in New Zealand and has been represented in Australia and NZ by numerous winners including G2 Wakeful Stakes winner and G1 placed Thunder Lady, G3 Eulogy Stakes winner Choice, G3 Sunline Vase winner Thee Auld Floozie, G3 Grand Prix Stakes winner Upham, Listed winner Jackofall and Group placed Maastricht, Kansas Sunflower, Spectacular Vision, Master Of Arts and Say Geronimo.

* AUSTRALIAN-owned filly Turfdonna had to call upon all her reserves to fend off the closing Nightflower and win the G1 Henkel-Pries der Diana (German Oaks) on Sunday at Dusseldorf.

Raced by Newcastle-based Australian Bloodstock, Turfdonna secured the victory over 2200m by three-quarters of length for her first stakes success.

Turfdonna, a daughter of Doyen, came in off a third in the G3 Almased-Cup Hamburger Stuten-Preis at Hamburg.

She moved to challenge 300 meters out, grabbed the lead approaching the furlong marker, and held on to prevail.

Turfdonna is the third German classic winner this year for trainer Andreas Wohler, who won the German 2000 Guineas with Karpino and the German 1000 Guineas with Full Rose.

Bred in Germany by Gestut Auenquelle, Turfdonna is out of the Big Shuffle mare Turfaue. Her second dam Turfquelle is a half sister to German champion Turfkonig and German classic winner Tryphosa.

Turfdonna was trained earlier this year by Roland Dzubasz before she was shifted to Wohler later in the spring.
