It's All About Galileo

3 minute read

Galileo added his 58th G1 winner to his record when his Aidan O’Brien-trained son Deauville won the Belmont Derby in New York.

Deauville’s dam Walklikeanegyptian (Danehill) is a half-sister to G2 Oaks d’Italia winner Contredanse (Danehill Dancer) and comes from the female family of Danehill’s champion son and sire Desert King and Maroof (Danzig).

Walklikeanegyptian produced full-brothers to Deauville in 2014 and 2015.

Deauville becomes the 13th G1 winner by Galileo produced from Danehill mares, plus many more out of mares by Danehill’s sire sons.

Deauville had turned in a smashing effort on his seasonal debut, finishing runner-up to Wings Of Desire in York’s G2 Dante Stakes in May but never reached contention last time in the Epsom Derby, finishing 11th.

• GALILEO’s first season sire son Nathaniel got off the mark when the 2YO filly Paulownia (Nathanial x Petite Nymph by Golan) broke her maiden over seven furlongs at Ascot.

• BORN TO SEA, a half brother to Galileo and Sea The Stars, produced his second winner when Sea Of Grace (Born To Sea x Lady Dettoria by Vettori) got off the mark at Tipperary.

• The 5YO Mutakayyef (Sea The Stars x Infallible by Pivotal) ran out a decisive winner of the G2 Summer Mile Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.
