Talismanic Heads Darley Roster In Japan

3 minute read

Fees have been announced for the seven stallions who will stand on the Darley roster in Japan in 2019, headed by new retiree Talismanic.

Talismanic, a striking son of leading shuttle sire Medaglia d’Oro, will stand for 1.8 million yen.

He won the G1 Breeders’ Cup Turf in record time last year defeating nine G1 winners, and won Group or stakes races at three, four and five.

Talismanic hails from the same family as Japan’s outstanding sire Deep Impact and current champion 4YO Rey De Oro.

Admire Moon, sire of multiple G1 winner Fine Needle, will stand at a fee of 1.5 million yen.

His is also the sire of G1 Takamatsunomiya Kinen winner Seiun Kosei and was responsible for more Group-winning sprinters in 2018 than any other sire in Japan.

The roster is completed by American Patriot (1.5 million yen), who will cover his second book of mares in 2019; proven G1 sire Discreet Cat (1.5 million yen); Furioso (500,000 yen); Dubawi’s Dubai World Cup-winning son Monterosso (1 million yen); and Pyro, Japan’s leading sire by NAR earnings (2.5 million yen).

Darley’s Shotato Kajiya said, “Breeder’s Cup winner Talismanic looks to be a fine fit for Japan. I am very happy that he is joining our stallion roster.”
