The 22-year-old son of Kingmambo will spend his retirement at Darley’s stallion complex in Japan.

King’s Best has been resident in Japan since 2013 after standing in France from 2010 at Haras du Logis in Normandy.

At various times he also stood in Ireland, Argentina and Australia.

King's Best, bred in Kentucky from the Lombard mare Allegretta, is a half brother to the legendary mare Urban Sea and is close related to her outstanding sons Galileo and Sea The Stars.

He is also a half-brother to Allez Les Trois, dam of Prix du Jockey Club winner Anabaa Blue and granddam of dual G1 winerr Tamayuz.

Trained by Sir Michael Stoute, King’s Best won the G1 2000 Guineas in 2000 beating Giant's Causeway but then suffered a muscle injury that ruled him out of the Epsom Derby.

He then had a tragic end to his racing career when he fractured a cannon bone in the Irish Derby.

King's Best stood at Kildangan Stud in Ireland for eight seasons and also shuttled to Australia.

His progeny include the G1 stars Workforce, Creachadoir, Dubai Surprise, Eishin Flash, King's Apostle, Proclamation, Royal Diamond and Sajjhaa.

His Australian-bred daughter Mrs Windsor is the dam of dual G1 winer Egg Tart.
