Coolmore Pays $US3.65 million For Curlin Colt

3 minute read

A Curlin colt made $US3.65 million to headline this week’s Fasig-Tipton's selected 2-year-olds in training sale at Gulfstream Park.

Only 59 of the 188 catalogued lots sold for gross receipts of $US29,115,000 at an average of $US493,475 average and a $US375,000 median.

Espite the low clearance the figures represented records for the sale since it was relocated to Gulfstream five years ago.

Coolmore Stud’s MV Magnier and partners secured the sale topper, a half-brother to G1-placed Arabian Hope and stakes winner Counterforce.

He was bred in Kentucky by Hill ‘n’ Dale Equine Holdings and Vinnie Viola’s St Elias Stables and was offered on behalf of his breeders by New Castle Farm.

Magnier was involved with the purchase outright or in partnership with four of the six top lots that made seven figures.
