Imports Strutt Their Stuff

Imports Buffalo River and Attention Run are expected to rise above winter class after their wins at Flemington and Randwick on Saturday.

The US-bred Buffalo River (Noble Mission x Fashion Insider by Indian Charlie) kept his unblemished record in Australia intact with his third successive win in the Silver Bowl Series Final at Flemington.

Trainer Mike Moroney named the inaugural $7.5 million Golden Eagle in Sydney as a spring target for Buffalo River, a son of Frankel's triple G1 winning brother Noble Mission.

He was acquired by Moroney at the 2018 Tattersalls Horse In Training Sale in the UK where hjis brother and bloodstock agent Paul Moroney secured him for 180,000 guineas after had a win and three placings from his four starts

Buffalo River's dam Fashion Inside is a sister to the G2 winner My Pal Charlie and G3 winner Bwana Charlie and a half-sister to G3 winner Bwana Bull (Holy Bull).

The success syndicators Australian Bloodstock have enjoyed with German imports continued when Attention Run made a winning Australian debut at Randwick.

Best known for their Melbourne Cup win with the German stayer Protectionist, Australian Bloodstock has placed Attention Run  (Hurricane Run x Attention Please by Sternkoenig) with Kris Lees.

''It has taken a really long time to get her to the races, she had a few little issues, and it took a while to get her settled into Australian weather and lifestyle but she's come around slowly but surely.

"German horses are super horses. They have got a very small pool of horses but they do breed a very good horse and most of them that have come here have been successful.

"Hopefully she gets some Australian black-type at some stage.''

Australian Bloodstock targeted Attention Run after noting her win at Cologne over Schabau, another import from Germany who has won three times in Australia.

Coming targets for Attention Run include the Wyong and Newcastle Cups.
