Agent Anthony Stroud made the bid for the Godolphin supremo to secure a Dubawi filly from the Dansili mare Prudenzia, dam of the outstanding fillies Chicquita and Magic Wand.

Prudenzia has been phenomenal Deauville sale producer, having eight yearlings sell for a total of €8.195 million.

Her half-sister Pacifique (Montjeu) is also the dam of the highest priced lot ever sold at the Arqana August Yearling Sale, a colt by Dubawi also bought by Godolphin for €2.6 million in 2015.

Stroud said the Prudenzia filly had a wonderful pedigree and came from a great stud farm Ecurie des Monceaux.

"Hopefully she will be a good racehorse but she will also be a very nice addition to the broodmare band eventually," he said.

Sheikh Mohammed was on a high after watching his Shamardal 2YO Earthlight win Sunday's G1 Prix Morny at Deauville.

"Sheikh Mohammed has come to France for the sale for the first time in a long time but he remains incredibly enthusiastic and what a lot of people don't realise is that he's a very good judge of a horse.

"This isn't me buying these horses; I just listen to his instructions, he's the one who's key."

Japanese trainer Mitsu Nakauchida went to €1.5 million to secure a Galileo colt who is the first foal out of Prudenzia's winning sister Prudente (Dansili) also offered by Ecurie des Monceaux.

The select section of the August Sale ended with a 17% upturn in aggregate to €33,460,000 ($A54,815,008) for 113 lots sold.

The average of €290,487 rose by 24% and the median increased from €170,000 to €220,000.

Dubawi had two lots sell on for a total of €2.225 million ($A3.6 million) while Galileo had seven sell for €4,810,000 ($A7.8million) at an average of €687,143 ($A1.1million).

Phoenix Thoroughbreds paid the top price at the first session when going to €800,000 for a Galileo colt out of multiple G3 winner Steip Amach.
