Galileo was the star of the show at the 2019 Goffs Orby Sale with the champion sire providing three of the four lots to make seven figures.

The sale topper was predictably by Galileo with his filly out of noted broodmare Green Room (Theatrical) selling for €3 million ($A4,903,414).

Offered by Ballylinch Stud for her breeders Vimal and Gillian Khosla, the filly was bought by Coolmore Stud MV Magnier with Westerberg's Georg von Opel after seeing off underbidder Godolphin.

Von Opel is in the process of building up a high-class broodmare band and also signed for the €2.2 million Galileo full-sister to the three-time G1 winner Alice Springs.

Green Room is the dam of the G1 winners Lord Shanakill (Speightstown), Together Forever (Galileo) and Forever Together (Galileo).

The top lot is also a sister to Do You Love Me, the filly who topped last year's Orby Sale when secured by Phoenix Thoroughbreds for €3.2 million.

Green Room's progeny have now realised a total of €8.88 milion for the Khoslas at the Orby Sale since 2013, MV Magnier having acquired Together Forever for €680,000 in 2013 and Forever Together for €900,000 three years later.

The 2019 Orby catalogue saw 428 lots offered with 363 sold at an overall clearance rate of 85 per cent, down from 89 per cent off a smaller book in 2018.

The sale realised a median of €365,000 with the average down by 11 per cent to €117,899.

With 36 more horses sold this year the aggregate was down 1.6 per cent to €42,797,500 ($A69,996,716).
