Waikato Stud stallion Ocean Park secured his fiftieth winner as a sire on Tuesday when Ocean Essence was victorious over 1300m at Mildura.

The Darren Weir-trained three-year-old was purchased by Forest Lodge Racing for NZ$47,500 out of Haunui Farm’s 2017 New Zealand Bloodstock Select Yearling Sale draft.

His sire Ocean Park won five Group One races on his way to being crowned New Zealand Horse of the Year for the 2012-13 season.

He is now the sire of seven stakes performers, including Listed Placid Ark Stakes (1200m) winner Ocean Jewel, Gr.1 New Zealand Derby (2400m) runner-up Mongolianconqueror and Gr.1 Queensland Oaks (2400m) runner-up Another Dollar.

Ocean Park stands at Waikato Stud for a service fee of $30,000+gst.
