The young sires led the way as 123 lots sold (69%) for turnover of $1,229,250 at an average of $9,994 and median of $7,000.

“We saw good clearance rates achieved for popular sires including first season Sweynesse and The Bold One, with Sweynesse on top of the sires table and achieving the highest price of the day,” commented NZB Bloodstock Sales Manager Danny Rolston.

Lot 1090, the Sweynesse filly out of the Tavistock mare Happy Endings, made the top price of $NZ50,000.

She is granddaughter of four-time G1 winner Snap and was offered through the draft of Brighthill Farm.

She was knocked down to international agent Paul Moroney who purchased the filly in partnership with the New Zealand Chinese Jockey Club.

“Alan Fu from the New Zealand Chinese Jockey Club was happy to back our judgment,” Moroney said.

“They purchased her to be a prospect for the Karaka Million next year and I think she is well worthy of having been bought for that purpose.

Novara Park Stud’s Sweynesse was the leading sire by aggregate with seven yearlings sold for $101,750.

Redwood headed the averages for Book 3 with six lots averaging $14,833.

Long Acres Stud sold nine lots to lead the vendor aggregates with $100,000, while Hallmark Stud were the leading vendor by average at $15,333.

The busiest buyers on the day were Dean Wiles from Warrior Stables with 11 purchases and Kevin Myers, who secured eight horses.
