Belardo's first Northern Hemisphere yearlings were offered at the UK sale with six of his progeny in the premier Book 1 and nine catalogued in Bok 2.

Belardo's top price in Book 1 of 150,000gns was paid for a colt out of Vandergirl, a daughter of Duch Art consigned by Jamie Railton and purchased by Klaravich Stables.

His next best seller was a 110,000gns filly and he ended Book 1 with an average just under 90,000 gns.

Book 2 provided Belardo with his top price of 200,000 gns for a colt out of the stakes performer La Patria (Dubawi) and Shadwell Stud went to 135,000gns for Belardo a colt out of the stakes performer You're Back (Street Cry).

From a total of nine lots catalogued in Book 2, Belardo averaged just over 65,000gns.

Haunui Farm's Mark Chitty said the results were a positive sign for Belardo's future.

"It always seems like a long wait to see a young stallion's first crop hit the sale ring but the results suggest Belardo's first crop have certainly created an impression," Chitty said.

"We're certainly looking forward to his first Southern Hemisphere crop hitting the sale ring in January 2020."

Belardo is currently serving his third book of mares at Haunui Farm.

"Usually we see a significant drop in numbers in season three as breeders wait for some sale and racetrack performance but as things stand Belardo has had 98 mares booked for the season and we might crack 100," Chitty said.

Belardo served 95 mares in his first season at Haunui Farm and 118 in his second.
