Mithen Buys Into Makybe

3 minute read

Victoria's Rosemont Stud owner Anthony Mithen has purchased part of Tony Santic's Makybe bloodstock holdings.

Mithen moved to make the acquisition after Santic announced that he was downsizing his breeding interests and placing half of his 3200 acre property near Geelong on the market.

“It's a dream come true," Mithen said.

"There is not a better farm for producing A grade stock - Starspangledbanner, Arapaho Miss, Better Be The One, Headway and a host of others are proof of that.

"I am certain we will be able to keep the ball rolling."

Mithen said he will utilize the stallion facilities at Makybe by standing Danzero and Toorak Toff at the property this year.

A decision on whether Purrealist, Santic's foundation sire at Makybe, stays on the roster is still to be made.

"We are now making sure Victoria gets a real chance to reassert itself as a state capable of retaining and standing the best stallions in the country,” Mithen added. “

We had to beat off Hunter Valley farms to secure Toorak Toff and the response has been enormous.”
