• IMPRESSISVE High Chaparral filly Sacred Eye will head to the G1 VRC Oaks at Flemington on November 5 as favourite following her victory over the colts in the G3 Caulfield Classic.

Stepping up to 2000m at only her fourth start, Sacred Eye was the only filly in the field.

Sacred Eye (High Chaparral x Musidora by Rock Of Gibraltar) was purchased by BBA Ireland for $270,000 at the 2014 Easter Sale from the draft of Coolmore Stud.

She has now won twice and been placed second twice from four starts with her prize money totalling $361,400.

She is the fourth foal and second winner from the G3 winner Musidora (Rock Of Gibraltar). Sacred Eye’s second dam Nice Dancing (Bering) produced seven winners including the stakes placed pair of Outsourcing (Alwuhush) and Etruscan King (King Of Kings).

Her third dam is the triple Listed winner Grand Luxe (Sir Ivor), the dam of seven winners. The family features Flying Spur (Danehill) and Encosta De Lago (Fairy King).

Sacred Eye is the 73rd stakes winner for the late High Chaparral. The son of Sadler’s Wells died last December at the age of 15.

• THE G2 Caulfield Sprint produced a dead heat result for the second successive year with classy mare Lumosty (Fastnet Rock x Luminous Eyes, by Bachelor Duke) sharing the victory with Eclair Choice, a son of California Dane.

The result mirrored last year’s result when Bel Sprinter (Bel Esprit) and Miracles of Life (Not A Single Doubt) shared a split decision but was not without a drama as there was an unsuccessful protest by Lumosty’s rider Dwayne Dunn.

Lumosty was having her first run since a third in the G1 Tatts Tiara at the Queensland carnival and will now go to Flemington for the G1 Darley Classic in three weeks.

A $185,000 Easter yearling purchase by Flemington Bloodstock from the Coolmore draft, Lumosty runs for Phil Sly and Katsumi Yoshida, who enjoyed much success with another star daughter of Fastnet Rock in four time G1 winner Mosheen including the VRC Oaks by nine lengths.

Foaled and raised at Coolmore, Lumosty has the impressive record of five wins and four placings from 12 starts with prizemoney nearing $500,000.

She is the first foal of Irish G3 winner Luminous Eyes, who comes from the family of Pilsudski and G1 winners Youmzain and Creachadoir.

Lumosty is the sixth Australian stakes-winner this season for Fastnet Rock, who leads the Australian General Sires table by earnings.

Fastnet Rock’s week included the win by class sprinter Fast ‘n’ Rocking (Fastnet Rock x For the Good Times, by Hennessy) in the Listed Italktravel Stakes at Caulfield on October 14.

It was the third stakes win for the 5yo gelding taking his overall record to five wins and six placings from 32 starts for earnings of $965,500.

He is the best of four winners from stakes-winner For the Good Times.

* ECLAIR Choice (California Dane x Bounce by Woodman) has won five of his 15 starts and been placed a further seven times for prize money totalling $298,580.

He is one of five winners and the only stakes winner out of his unraced dam Bounce, a daughter of the Golden Slipper Stakes winner Burst (Marauding).

Bred by Newhaven Park Stud, Eclair Choice was sold by his breeders for $5000 at the 2012 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale.

Burst, a daughter of the G1 placedSudden (Boucher), has produced five winners from six foals to race and is the grandam of the South African G3 winner Winter Burst (Western Winter).

• SYDNEY filly Dawnie Perfect (Big Brown x Zagalia by Zabeel) is also on target for the Oaks after winning the G3 Ethereal Stakes.

The Clarry Conners-trained filly is the 15th stakes winner by former shuttle sire Big Brown and is raced by breeder John Singleton.

Conners trained the Singleton-owned Dear Demi to win the VRC Oaks in 2012.

• THE James Cummings-trained Ruling Dynasty became the 81st stakes winner by Medaglia D’Oro when he won the Listed City Tattersalls Club Cup Stakes at Randwick.

Ruling Dynasty (Medaglia D’Oro x Makarova by Thunder Gulch) will now head to Melbourne and run in the Lexus at Flemington in a bid to cliam a Melbourne Cup berth.

A homebred for Gooree Park Stud, Ruling Dynasty is the first stakes winner for the Thunder Gulch mare Makarova who hails from one of best families in the Australian Stud Book being a half-sister to Redoute’s Choice’s dam Shantha’s Choice.

EXCEED And Excel had a stakes double in Melbourne and Adelaide on Saturday thanks to his classy pair Flamberge and Vashka.

Melbourne sprinter Flamberge returned to the scene of his G1 win in The Godwood to land the Listed Durbridge Stakes at Morphettville while Vashka won the G3 Moonga Stakes at Caulfield at his first start away from Sydney.

The double helped Exeed And Excel extend his lead as Australia’s leading stallion by stakes winners this season with seven individual winners at black type level.

A last-start winner of the G2 Shannon Stakes at Rosehill, Vashka is the seventh foal to race and first stakes winner out of the G2-placed Zabeel mare Zaroyale, a sister to stakes winner Verb.

Flamberge, a hombred for David and Jenny Moodie, is out of G3 winner Razor Blade and is a full brother to G1 performer Curtana and half brother to Sunburnt Land, a stakes winner and G1 placed.

• SHAMARDAL’s Group placed daughter Vezalay recorded her maiden stakes success in the Listed Alinghi Stakes at Caulfield.

Prepared by Leon and Troy Corstens, Vezalay made it three wins from 10 starts when she carried the colours of Spicer Thoroughbred to success.

A daughter of Shamardal, Vezalay was purchased for $180,000 from the Attunga Stud draft at the 2013 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Vezalay is one of five runners for the 100 per cent winner producer Tactfully - a stakes performed winner of five races by Flying Spur.

Tactfully is a sister to stakes winner Roulettes and half sister to G3 placed Royal Discretion. It is also the family of G1 winner Albany Reunion.

Shamardal is the sire of 29 stakes winners this year.

• MORE Than Ready mare Nayeli made a wining debut for the Peter and Paul Snowden team when she landed the G3 Nivision at Randwick.

Nayeli (More Than Ready x Wasimah) was a $260,000 purchase by James Harron Bloodstock from Corumbene Stud at the 2013 Easter Sale.

Previously with Gai Waterhouse, she has now won four races for owners Greg and Donna Kolivos.

"It was all about getting that Group win for her and getting the result for the owners,” said Peter Snowden.

* THE Snowdens had a successful day preparing the quinella in the Listed City Tattersalls Lightning when Dothraki (Mossman) beat his stablemate That’s A Good Idea.

Dothraki, a multiple Group winner, was purchased by the Triple Crown team for $45,000 from Gerry Harvey's Baramul Stud at the 2012 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale.

He's now earned his connections over $680,000.

One of 31 stakes winners for his sire Mossman, Dothraki is one of four winners for his dam Volantic, a Flying Spur half sister to Simonstad.

• COUNTRY-trained Hinchinbrook filly Miss Amajardan made it two from two starts with an impressive win in the City Tattersalls Club Victory Vein Plate at Randwick.

The 2YO filly cost a mere $6500 at the Scone Yearling Sale in May by Port Macquarie trainer Jenny Graham for owner Dale Miller.

* EMIRATES Park shuttle sire Dream Ahead has a real star on the rise after the progressive colt Donjuan Triumphant recorded his second black type win in six days in France in the G2 Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte.

Trained by Yorkshire-based Irishman Richard Fahey for Middleham Park Racing, Donjuan Triumphant has scored a comfortable win in the Listed Rockingham Stakes at York last weekend and backed up on Friday to win by five-and-a-half lengths.

Donjuan Triumphant has now won his past three outings and is yet to finish out of a place in seven starts.

Promising filly Sacred Eye claimed favouritism for the VRC Oaks (Gr 1, 2500m) with a strong staying effort in winning here at only her fourth race start. She settled nicely in fifth place, one off the rails, improved well (three deep) approaching the home turn, challenged on passing the 200m and finished too well for her male opposition to score impressively. Lizard Island was smartly away but was trapped deep from barrier nine, was seventh early on, then made a quick move to race outside the leader (Ayers Rock) from the 1200m. He went to the front on straightening and fought gamely for a very good second after working most of the way, enhancing his Victoria Derby (Gr 1, 2500m) prospects. Godolphin’s Etymology settled in seventh place on the rails, improved between runners at the home turn but was held up before angling into clear running at the 200m. He then ran on well for third, also shaping as a Victoria Derby candidate. Get The Picture was last in 11-horse field to the 600m, went deep on straightening (under riding) and responded from the 200m, running on in good style for (2.5 lengths) fourth in another nice Victoria Derby trial. Alkaashef was fourth, one out and one back, moved up at the home turn and battled on quite well for (3.3 lengths) fifth.
