Godolphin’s veteran import Hartnell bounced back to top form for his third G1 win in Australia in Saturday’s CF Orr Stakes at Caulfield.
The 7YO gelding by Authorized from the Anabaa mare Debonnaire was bred by Darley and has now had 38 starts for 12 wins and 13 placings.
His earnings stand at $4,763,499.Hartnell’s dam Debonnaire has also produced Listed winner and G1 placegetter Roz (Teofilo). She is a half-sister to stakes placed pair Dramatic Quest (Zafonic) and Proceed With Care (Danehill).
His second dam Ultra Finesse (Rahy) was G2 placed and is a half-sister to Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Suave Dancer (Green Dancer).A Frankel half-brother to Hartnell was purchased by Narvick International for 500,000 guineas at Book One of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale last year.
• Hartnell’s stablemate Kementari gave his sire Lonhro his 71st winner when he made an exciting start to his autumn campaign in the G3 Eskimo Prince Stakes at Warwick Farm.Kementari (Lonhro x Yavanna by Redoute's Choice) was G1 placed in the Caulfield Guineas in the spring and has long been regarded as one of Godolphin’s best colts.
Kementari could now be aimed at the G1 Randwick Guineas on March 10."He's got an extremely bright future,” said Godolphin’s Darren Beadman. “What really showed was his class and acceleration, the way he was able to put away some pretty nice horses. He's got an aura about him.”
• Fastnet Rock sired his 129th winner when the Mick Price-trained 3YO Holy Snow won the G2 Autumn Stakes at Caulfield.Holy Snow (Fastnet Rock x Only Words by End Sweep) was purchased by Yu Long Investments for $260,000 at the Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.
Price said the colt will now be aimed at the G1 Australian Guineas at Flemington on March 3.The Michael Mehegan-trained mare Prussian Vixen (King Of Prussia x Miss Eileen by Lion Hunter) defended her G3 Bellmaine Stakes title at Caulfield.
The five-year-old Prussian Vixen took out the same race 12 months in similar photo finish.Another import Gailo Chop (Deportivo x Grenoble by Marignan) made a winning return in the G3 TS Carlyon Cup at Caulfield for the Darren Weir stable.
The 7YO Gailo Chop won the G1 Caulfield Stakes in the spring and has the g1 Australian Cup on his radar.
