3 minute read

The 7YO gelding by Authorized from the Anabaa mare Debonnaire was bred by Darley and has now had 38 starts for 12 wins and 13 placings.

His earnings stand at $4,763,499.

Hartnell’s dam Debonnaire has also produced Listed winner and G1 placegetter Roz (Teofilo). She is a half-sister to stakes placed pair Dramatic Quest (Zafonic) and Proceed With Care (Danehill).

His second dam Ultra Finesse (Rahy) was G2 placed and is a half-sister to Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Suave Dancer (Green Dancer).

A Frankel half-brother to Hartnell was purchased by Narvick International for 500,000 guineas at Book One of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale last year.

Hartnell’s stablemate Kementari gave his sire Lonhro his 71st winner when he made an exciting start to his autumn campaign in the G3 Eskimo Prince Stakes at Warwick Farm.

Kementari (Lonhro x Yavanna by Redoute's Choice) was G1 placed in the Caulfield Guineas in the spring and has long been regarded as one of Godolphin’s best colts.

Kementari could now be aimed at the G1 Randwick Guineas on March 10.

"He's got an extremely bright future,” said Godolphin’s Darren Beadman. “What really showed was his class and acceleration, the way he was able to put away some pretty nice horses. He's got an aura about him.”

Fastnet Rock sired his 129th winner when the Mick Price-trained 3YO Holy Snow won the G2 Autumn Stakes at Caulfield.

Holy Snow (Fastnet Rock x Only Words by End Sweep) was purchased by Yu Long Investments for $260,000 at the Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.

Price said the colt will now be aimed at the G1 Australian Guineas at Flemington on March 3.

The Michael Mehegan-trained mare Prussian Vixen (King Of Prussia x Miss Eileen by Lion Hunter) defended her G3 Bellmaine Stakes title at Caulfield.

The five-year-old Prussian Vixen took out the same race 12 months in similar photo finish.

Another import Gailo Chop (Deportivo x Grenoble by Marignan) made a winning return in the G3 TS Carlyon Cup at Caulfield for the Darren Weir stable.

The 7YO Gailo Chop won the G1 Caulfield Stakes in the spring and has the g1 Australian Cup on his radar.

In a keenly contested finish where the entire field of 13 finished within 3.5 lengths of the winner, multiple Group One winner Hartnell prevailed in a really smart first up performance. He settled back in eighth place (wide with cover) from his difficult barrier (11), improved from the 700m, moved up (under riding) at the home turn and responded over the latter stages, coming with a late bid to score narrowly but well. Single Gaze raced in tenth place on the rails, Kathy O’Hara got her along the inner in the straight and she ran on really well for a smart first up second. Brave Smash raced in seventh place, between runners, angled into clear running on passing the 200m and caught the eye with his late closing third in good first up run. Thronum went to the front as expected and battled on well for a close up fourth in a good effort, advancing in class here. Lord Of The Sky was slowly away, made and early move to race outside the leader and held on for (0.7 lengths) fifth putting up a smart effort. Abbey Marie made late ground and impressed with her late-closing (0.8 lengths) sixth while Caulfield Guineas (Gr 1, 1600m) winner Mighty Boss made good late ground in restrict room for (0.9 lengths) seventh in another good first up run while the favourite Tosen Stardom was caught deep from his outside barrier (13) and after being back in the field early on, made a move to race in third place (thee wide) outside the leading duo before battling on for (2.4 lengths) 11th after a difficult trip.
