An amazing 24 hours has given I Am Invincible an early lead in his bid to topple Snitzel from his pedestal as Australia’s champion sire.
I Am invincible is leading the general sires, stakeswinners, wins and winners premierships for the current season after his progeny dominated feature meetings at Moonee Valley and Randwick on September 28 and 29.
His runners won two Group One races and two other Group races, pushing his lead over Snitzel on the general sires table by prizemoney to almost $1.2 million.I Am Invincible’s hot run has taken his progeny earnings to $3.111 million with Snitzel second on $1.954,745.
After racing on September 29 I Am Invincible had sired 47 winners of 57 races since August 1 and they include nine individual stakeswinners of 10 black type races.Topping the results for I Am Invincible were the G1 wins by Viddora in the Moir Stakes at Moonee Valley and Oohood in the Flight Stakes at Randwick.
They were supported by the win of I Am A Star, another of his G1 winners, in the G2 Stocks Stakes at the Moonee Valley meeting on Friday night, and the classy debut of his 2YO filly Catch Me in the GH3 Gimcrack Stakes at Randwick on Saturday.With Viddora also being a previous G1 winner Oohood became the fifth individual G1 winner for her sire.
Another I Am Invincible youngster Covert Ops finished second in the G3 Breeders' Plate at Randwick.VIDDORA: The 6YO mare Viddora (I Am Invincible x Snow Flight by Columbia) could be in line for the last berth in the $13 million Everest after recording her second G1 win in the AJ Moir Stakes (1000m) at Moonee Valley.Having her first start after a spell, Viddora was a significant for winner for former Adelaide trainer Lloyd Kennewell and jockey Joe Bowditch following their recent move to Melbourne.
Viddora' won the G1 Winterbottom Stakes at Ascot in Perth last December and then went to Queensland to win in the $1 million Magic Millions Snippets at the Gold Coast in January.Viddora was purchased by Lloyd Kennewell for $40,000 at the 2014 Adelaide Magic Millions Yearling Sale when she was offered by her breeders the Hodgson family through their Riva Ridge Stud draft.
She has now won nine races with eight placings from 27 starts for earnings of $2,400,180.Her dam Snow Flight is a five time winner and a half-sister to the stakesplaced Zeddane (Danske).
They are from the Zeditave mare Zed Du Jour while Viddora’s fourth dam Delagoa (Targowice) is a half-sister to the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Detroit.OOHOOD: It was a while coming but the high class 3YO filly Oohood (I Am Invincible x Bella Sunday by Sunday Silence) finally dropped her maiden status with a thrilling win in the G1 Flight Stakes at Randwick.
The Tony McEvoy-trained filly was widely regarded as Australia’s best maiden after placing in three G1 races as a juvenile in the Blue Diamond and Golden Slipper among six placings in her first nine starts. She has earned $1,310,800.With a G1 win now secured, McEvoy plans to take on the colts and geldings with Oohood in the G1 Caulfield Guineas on October 13.Oohood is one of eight winners from the winning Sunday Silence mare Bella Sunday. They include the stakes placed Breakfast In Bed (Hussonet).
Bella Sunday is a half-sister to leading sire Not A Single Doubt (Redoute’s Choice) and a half-sister to G2 placegetter Hanky Panky (Anabaa),who has produced three stakes winners, and Natural Is My Name (Naturalism), the dam of Golden Slipper and Blue Diamond runner-up Zizou (Fusaichi Pegasus).I AM A STAR: The 5YO mare I Am A Star (I Am Invincible x Star Band by Dixieland Band) won the G3 Stocks Stakes (1600m) for a second time as she led home a quinella for products sold at Karaka in New Zealand.I Am A Star was bought for just $12,000 at the 2014 NZB National Weanling, Broodmare & Mixed Bloodstock Sale at Karaka by New Zealand’s Llanhennock Trust. She was then purchased for $40,000 by James Harron Bloodstock from the draft of Broadwater Thoroughbreds when offered at the 2015 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.
I Am A Star has now won nine of her 25 starts for prizemoney of $1,450,450.Runner-up Mrs Gardenia (Rip Van Winkle) was an $80,000 purchase at the 2015 Karaka Premier Sale and has now earned more than $268,000.
I Am A Star has now won eight black type races with her two Stocks Stakes wins sitting alongside victories in the G1 Myer Classic, G2 Kewney Stakes, G2 Let’s Elope Stakes, G2 Sunline Stakes, G3 Quezette Stakes and G3 National Stakes.She is one of three winners from four to race for her unraced dam Star Band and a sister to the stakes placed Band On The Run.
I Am A Star’s second dam Spenderella (Common Grounds) won in France and is the dam of seven winners including Group-winning sire Common World (Spinning World).Spenderella is out of Salvora (Spectacular Bid), the dam of eight winners including G1 winner Aube Indienne (Bluebird) and the dam of the dual G1 winner Erupt (Dubawi).
CATCH ME: This Peter and Paul Snowden-trained 2YO filly (I Am Invincible x Captivating Claire by O'Reilly) will be set for the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes after her scintillating debut win in race record time in the G3 Gimcrack Stakes at Randwick.
Catch Me, raced by the big spending Yuesheng Zhang’s Yulong Investments, cost $625,000 as a yearling and is now worth much more following her classy debut in race record time of 57.41 seconds for the 1000m.“She is obviously a filly with good potential,” said Peter Snowden. “The Blue Diamond is what we’ll have in mind for her.”
Catch Me boasts a high class pedigree as her fourth dam is the legendary broodmare Eight Carat.Catch Me, sold as a yearling by Segenhoe Stud, is the first starter for the unraced O’Reilly mare Captivating Claire, a half-sister to three winners including the Listed winner Ocean Jewel (Ocean Park).
A brother to Catch Me sold for $1.6 million at the 2017 Australian Easter Yearling Sale to James Harron Bloodstock and is yet to race.Catch Me’s granddam Markisa (Danehill) is a three-quarter sister to multiple G1 winner Danewin (Danehill) and champion sire Commands (Danehill).
Markisa is also a half-sister to G1 winner Shower Of Roses (Zabeel) and the dam of G1 winner Hiyaam (High Chaparral) from Marquise (Gold And Ivory).The family includes G1 winners Octagonal (Zabeel) and Diamond Lover (Sticks And Stones).
Captivating Claire has a yearling colt and a filly foal by I Am Invincible.
