Class climbing 4YO Victorem became the 40th stakes winner or boom sire I Am Invincible and completed a Listed double for the stallion when he won the Listed Lough Neagh Stakes at Doomben on Saturday.
The Port Macquarie-trained Victorem (I Am Invincible x Playful Miss by Foreplay) took his earnings past $800,000 when he beat I’m A Rippa (Love Conquers All) by almost four lengths for his first open company black type win.
I Am Invincible had two other winners on the Doomben card including brilliant Gold Coast mare Houtzen (I Am Invincible x Set To Unleash by Reset) who set a Doomben course record for 1050m with her runaway win in the Listed Bribie Stakes.
I Am Invincible has sired 19 stakes winners this season, 10 more than his nearest rival.Victorem’s trainer Jenny Graham said the 4YO could stay in Brisbane for the Listed Buffering Stakes (1350m) at Doomben in two weeks.
Victorem, who won the $500,000 Country Championship final at Randwick last season, has now won six of his 11 starts after he was puchasaed by Graham for $65,000 at the 2016 Magic Millions 2YOs in Training Sale.His dam Playful Miss, by Foreplay, was a Sydney winner and is related to G1 winner Ball Park.
Her subsequent foals include a yearling filly by Denman and a filly foal by Territories.Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Houtzen became the first horse to go under 59 seconds over the 1050m course at Doomben in her record breaking win on Saturday.
The Toby Edmonds-trained mare stopped the clock at 58.83 seconds and will now be set for the $1 million Magic Millions Sprint (1200m) on January 12.Edmonds paid $105,000 for Houtzen at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale with the mare taking her earnings past $2 million with Saturday’s win.
Bred by the late Scone identity Noel Leckie, Houtzen is from the Reset mare Set To Unleash and has now won three stakes races among her seven wins in 17 starts.Unbeaten 3YO Zoustar became the sixth stakes winner by hot sire Zoustar when he extended his sequence to five wins with a classy display in the Listed Gold Edition Plate at Doomben.Zoustyle was stepping up to 1200m for the first time and prompted his trainer Tony Gollan to heap praise on the gelding as the best sprinter he has trained after he led from start to finish in the fast time of 1:08. 55 seconds, a second quicker than the previous class record set by Pierata last year.
"I really enjoyed that,” Gollan said. "I have had a lot of good horses over the past 20 years but I don't know if any are as good as him."The Gold Edition was the second leg of the summer three-year-old triple crown series, taking Zoustyle closer to a $500,000 bonus if he can win the three legs,
Zoustyle, raced by his breeders Desharon Bloodstock and Stableboard Bloods, won the first leg, the Winning Rupert Stakes, at his previous start.He now has to win the Vo Rogue Plate over 1350m to claim the bonus as he is not eligible for the other leg, the Magic Millions Guineas (1400m).
Zoustyle is the second winner from Fashion, a German-bred daughter of Anabaa who is a half-sister to the G2 winner Felicity, dam of champion German miler Felician (Motivator).Fashion was purchased by agent John Foote for 55,000gns at the 2012 Tattersalls December Mares Sale in the UK for Zoustyle’s owners Desharon Bloodstock.
She has has a yearling filly by Choisir and a Sebring foal and has been covered by first-season sire Merchant Navy.Zoustar, represented by 51 lots in next month’s Magic Millions Yearling Sale at the Gold Coast, is also the sire of G1 winner Sunlight, Zousain, Lean Mean Machine and Persuader.
