The Adam Durrant-trained mare Celebrity Dream recorded her fifth black type win but only her first at Group level in Saturday’s G3 La Trice Classic at Ascot in Perth.
Raced by Bob and Sandra Peters, the 6YO Celebrity Dream (Thorn Park x Valpolicella by Red Ransom) has now had 22 starts for 10 wins and six placings and $545,750 in prize-money – more than double her $260,000 purchase price at the 2014 Premier Sale at Karaka.
Purchased for Peters Investments by WA agent John Chalmers Bloodstock, Celebrity Dream is one of 29 stakes winners by the late G1 winner Thorn Park (Spinning World), who stood at Windsor Park Stud in New Zealand until his death in 2012.Celebrity Dream’s dam Valpolicella is a star among the broodmare band at Haunui Farm in NZ. Haunui Farm owns Valpolicella In partnership with Garry Cranny and Frantic Bloodstock and bred Celebrity Dream.
A G3 winner herself, she is the dam of six foals to race, five of them winners with Celebrity Dream joining Vavasour and Vilanova as her third Group winner.Vavasour (Redoute’s Choice) won the G2 Sir Tristram Fillies’ Classic, G3 Counties Cup and G3 Waikato Cup, while Vilanova (Commands) won the G2 Autumn Classic, G3 Grand Prix, Listed Tattersalls Club Cup and Listed Star Way Stakes.
Valpolicella has an unraced 2YO by Savabeel, an Iffraaj colt at foot and is in foal to Not A Single Doubt.
“Valpolicella is a direct descendant of Foxona, our foundation mare who was purchased from Trelawney Stud in 1953,” said Haunui Farm’s Mark Chitty.Valpolicella is a daughter of the four time winner Our Reisling (Last Tycoon) from Dopff (Tights), a G2 winner who produced seven winners, including the G1 placed Octapussy (Octagonal).
Octapussy is the dam of the G2 Willow (O’Reilly) and listed winners Pussy O’Reilly and Inside Agent.Dopff is also a half-sister to the G2 winner Rizon (Zabeel) and multiple G3 winner Ready To Lift (More Than Ready).
