The demand for progeny by Star Witness continued when a filly by the proven sire made the top price on Day 3 of Sydney's Classic Yearling Sale on Monday.
Offered by Newhaven Park, the filly from Madam Nash was popular with buyers pre-sale and went for $350,000, selling to Orbis Bloodstock.
It was the highlight on a day when the overall sale clearance improved to 82% at an average of $77,909 with one day of Book 1 remaining.The filly will remain in Australia and be trained by Kim Waugh for Orbis, a Hong Kong-based company.
At the conclusion of Day 3, Orbis is the leading buyer at the sale, having purchased 11 individual lots for $1,590,000.Today’s top lot for Star Witness sees the Widden stallion feature in two of the top three lots for the sale overall, including the sale topper to date at $400,000.
Equal second top lot was a Dissident x Keep Me Warm colt from Sledmere Stud, purchased by George Moore for $280,000.STATISTICS
