Western Australia’s stallion ranks are blossoming with the new arrival Jimmy Choux certain to be among the most popular new additions this season.
The former NZ bred and based Jimmy Choux (Thorn Park) sired his first Group 1 winner on Saturday Kiwi sprinter The Bostonian won the $700,000 Doomben 10,000 (1200m) in Brisbane.
Jimmy Choux was relocated to Rosalee Stud in WA from Rich Hill Stud in New Zealand and with The Bostonian one of his two stakes winners.The Bostonian (Jimmy Choux x Keepa Cheval by Keeper) is raced by his breeder David Archer.
His dam Keepa Cheval is a half-sister to his former two-time New Zealand Horse of the Year Mufhasa (Pentire), the winner of 10 G1 races.Keepa Cheval is the dam of three winners but is yet to produce a runner since foaling The Bostonian in 2014.
She has an Iffraaj weanling colt and is in foal to Alamanzor.Trained at Cambridge by Tony Pike, The Bostonian is unbeaten in five Queensland races after winning all four starts at last year’s carnival including the G3 Sunshine Coast Guineas and Listed Daybreak Lover Plate.
The Bostonian has now won eight of his 15 starts, amassing $831,130 in prize-money.
