Rising star Strasbourg continued a remarkable juvenile season for I Am Invincible when he won the G2 BRC Sires Produce Stakes at Eagle Farm.
Trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, Strasbourg is the eighth two-year-old stakes winner this season by I Am Invincible, joining Catch Me, I Am Immortal, Loving Gaby, Vinicunca, Libertini, Espaaniyah and Steal My Kisses.
The Sires Produce result underlines I Am Invincible’s growing domination. Another I Am Invincible colt Garibaldi finished third and the runner-up Accession is by I Am Invincible's son Brazen Beau.
Strasbourg, bred by Yarraman Park and Miller Thoroughbreds, was sold for $750,000 to the China Horse Club/Newgate Farm/WinStarFarm syndicate at the 2018 Australian Easter Yearling Sale in Sydney and has won $443,125 from two wins and three placings.
He is the first named foal out of the G2-placed mare Danish Spy (Dane Shadow), who won five races and is a half-sister to the stakes winner Forest Spy (Shinko Forest) from the Listed winner Super Snooper (Zeditave).
Danish Spy subsequently produced another I Am Invincible colt who was sold for $300,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale in January and went bacxk to the champion sire last spring.
Danish Spy was purchased by Boomer Bloodstock for $250,000 at the 2015 Magic Millions Gold Coast National Broodmare Sale.
Strasbourg is now set to be a late entry for the G1 JJ Atkins Stakes at Eagle Farm on June 8.
The Snowden stable landed a second Group win at Eagle Farm on Saturday when classy Epaulette 3YO Military Zone took out the G3 Fred Best Classic.Military Zone (Epaulette x Loading Zone by Street Sense) was sold twice before he raced, first as a weanling in 2016 to bloodstock agent Paul Willetts for $140,000 before Three Bridges Thoroughbreds re-offered him at the 2017 Melbourne Premier Sale where Triple Crown Syndications paid the same price.
He has now five of his 10 starts and has earned $463,530 prize-money.
Military Zone’s dam Loading Zone, a half-sister to Macau stakes winner Happy Forever (Commands) and Listed Gold Coast Bracelet winner Super Laguna (Grand Lodge).
Her third dam is the G3 winner Blixen, who has produced the Listed winner Avilde (Grand Lodge) and the dam of two-time G1 winner Toorak Toff (Show A Heart).
Loading Zone, purchased for $8000 at the 2013 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale, by Victoria’s Two Bays Farm, has since produced a Kermadec yearling colt and a weanling filly by Manhattan Rain and was covered by first season sire Russian Revolution last year.
The Kermadec colt was also sold to Triple Crown Syndications for $280,000 at the Sydney Classic Sale in February and will be trained by the Snowdens.
Military Zone recorded the fastest 1400m run on the redeveloped Eagle Farm sine racing recommenced (1:22.06) and was just 0.13 of a second outside the old track record.
