Enbihaar On The Rise For Shadwell

3 minute read

There's more elite success to come in Europe for the late champion sire Redoute's Choice judging by the dominant Group 2 victory by his 4YO daughter Enbihaar at Goodwood on Saturday.

Enbihaar's win in the G2 Lillie Langtry Stakes over 2800m came after the John Gosden-trained mare had won the Listed Daisy Warwick Stakes at Goodwood in May before finishing second in the York Bronte Cup and then winning the G2 Lancashire Oaks at Haydock last month.

Enbihaar (Redoute's Choice x Chanterelle by Trempolino) has now won four of her seven career starts for prize-money earnings of £288,574 for Sheikh Hamdan's Shadwell Stud.

From the second European crop left by Redoute's Choice, Enbihaar was bred by Charles Henri de Moussac's Haras du Mezeray from Chanterelle, a half-sister to French G1 winner Amonita.

Sent to the 2016 Arqana August Yearling Sale, the filly was bought for €500,000 by Sheikh Hamdan's racing manager Angus Gold.

Enbihaar's next start is likely to be next month's G2 Doncaster Park Hill Stakes  possibly followed by the Longchamp Prix de Royallieu for fillies & mares, a newly promoted G1 event on October 5.

It has been a strong year for Redoute's Choice in the northern hemisphere with the late sire represented by seven Group and Listed wins by Danceteria, Enbihaar and Spotify, members of the two crops conceived when he stood at the Aga Khan's Haras de Bonneval in France in 2013 and 2014.

Those two crops have now produced nine stakeswinners from 104 runners.

Shadwell had another big winner at Goodwood when the Charlie Hills-trained Khaadem (Dark Angel) beat 26 rivals in the Stewards Cup, one of Britain's major sprint handicap races.

A return to Group company awaits Khaadem in the G1 Haydock's Sprint Cup on September 7.

Shadwell Stud also races Saturday's Moonee Valley winner Taraayef, a Lonhro half-sister to the Listed winner Haybah (More Than Ready) and G3 performer Muraahib (Reset).

Their dam Sultah (Exceed And Excel) is a half-sister to the dual G1 winner and sire Rebel Raider (Reset) and G3 winner Shamoline Warrior (Shamardal). The family includes the G3 winner and G1 placed sprinter Jungle Edge (Dubawi).
