Dream Result For Lucky Breeder

3 minute read

The Joy Luck Trust is the owner and breeder of multiple Group winner Dreamforce, and it was certainly a lucky day when he failed to make his reserve price as a yearling.

The 12-styrong syndicate retained Dreamforce after the son of Fastnet Rock failed to make his $250,000 reserve when he was offered in the Kitchwin Hills draft at the 2014 Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

It was a surprising result as Dreamforce is impeccably-bred, being a son of the G1 Coolmore Classic and G1 Queensland Oaks winner Eskimo Queen (Shinko King).

All of Eskimo Queen's five foals to race have been winners and include the G3 placed Deep Chill (Wandjina).

New Queensland syndicate Boutique Thoroughbreds was a leading buyer at this year's Chairman's Sale in Sydney where they purchased Eskimo Queen in foal to Snitzel for $400,000. She is booked to be served by Trapeze Artist this spring.

Trainer John Thompson declared Dreamfoce was the best horse he has trained after he won the G2 Tramway Stakes at Randwick on Saturday, making him one of the favourites for next month's G1 Epsom Handicap.

It was win 11 and the fourth stakes win for Dreamforce and took his career prizemoney to almost $1.5 milion. Now that's good luck!

Dreamforce is the best runner for the Joy Luck Trust according to syndicate manager Tony Crisafi.

"We've been racing and breeding for around 15 years," Crisafi said.

"We've got three in work and three broodmares, but Dreamforce is our best result by a country mile.

Crisalfi explained why Dreamforce didnt attráct a bid as a yearling.

""He had developed a bad step and looked really out of place at Easter. Turns out he didn't attract a bid so we had no choice but to race him ourselves," Crisafi said.

"He didn't race until he was three and he usually only has four or five runs each campaign.

"Because of his breeding, we wanted to keep him a colt, but after a couple of years the decision was made to geld him and he's gone ahead in leaps and bounds ever since.

Eskimo Queen was sold for $2,500 as a weanling, $10,000 as a yearling and then $25,000 as a Ready To Run filly.

She was offered at the 2009 Gold Coast National Broodmare Sale at the end of her racing career but failed to reach a reserve of $600,000. Mick Malone from Kitchwin Hills then sourced her privately for the Joy Luck syndicate.

Kitchwin Hills sold a full sister to Dreamforce for $350,000 at this year's Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

The value of I Am Invincible filly Libertini soared again after the three-year-old made it four stakes wins in succession in the G2 Furious Stakes at Randwick on Saturday.

Libertini (I Am Invincible x Aloha, by Encosta De Lago) has been beaten only once in five starts, earning $392,300 prize-money for her owner-breeder Gerry Harvey and his long time sparring partner John SIngelton.

She is the third foal from the G1 winner Aloha (Encosta De Lago), being preceded by the 2YO winner Hualalai (Street Cry) who is now at stud at Ducatoon Park in South Australia.

Aloha is out of the Danehill mare Tennessee Midnight, a stakes winner and three-quarter sister to the dual G1 winner Malaguerra (Magnus).

The family also features the G1 winner Seabrook (Hinchinbrook) and G2 winner My Emotion (NZ) (Savabeel).

Aloha is also the dam of a 2YO by Sebring and a yearling filly by I Am Invincible.

International pedigrees are the penchant of leading owner Lloyd Williams and have provided him with another star in Homesman, winner of the G2 John F Feehan Stakes at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

The imported Homesman (War Front x My Annette by Red Ransom) has a rich heritage as he is half-brother to eight winners including the Listed winner and G1 July Cup runner-up U.S. Ranger (Danzig) from a three quarter sister to the multiple G2 winner and successful US sire Dynaformer.

She is also a half-sister to the former imported sire White Bridle (Seattle Slew). The pedigree also features G1 winners Andover Way and Offlee Wild.

Last spring Homesman won the G1 Underwood Stakes and he will go to that race next ahead of the G1 Caulfield Stakes and G1 WS Cox Plate.

Homesman, who won the G3 Gallinule Stakes in Ireland prior to landing in Australia, has won five of his 14 starts for prize-money of $1,713,374.

History repeated for Nicconi's widely-travelled short course specialist Faatinah in the G2 McEwen Stakes at Moonee Valley.

Now a 7YO Faatinah (Nicconi x Alqwah by Danehill) was having his first start since his tenth in the G3 Nad Al Sheba Turf Sprint at Meydan in Dubai in March.

He came back from Dubai and won first-up last year and did it again on Saturday.

Faatinah's dam Alqwah is also the producer of G1 placed Jalsah.

Tramway Stakes (G2)

Age: 3yo and up Type: OPEN

Having his first start since second in the Doncaster Mile (Gr 1, 1600m) at this track on April 6, Dreamforce staged another very good front-running performance in winning here. After a smart beginning, he immediately went to the front. He then set quite a good tempo before stepping up the pace from the 600m. He held a clear advantage at the 300m and was not threatened from that point to score impressively by three lengths, dashing home his last 600m in 33.89. Classy New Zealander Te Akau Shark settled in seventh place on the rails. He deeper and into clear running halfway down the straight and then finished well for second in a very good Australian debut. Eckstein began well and raced in sixth place before improving nearing the home turn. She then battled on well to take third in another very honest performance. Star Of The Seas raced in eighth place, one off the rails, before running on well in the straight for (3.4 lengths) fourth in a good first-up effort. Kolding settled in fifth place on the rails and then fought on well in restricted room to finish fifth, beaten three and half-lengths, in a good first-up run.
