The late Hinchinbrook had the honour of being the sire of Melbourne's first 2YO winner for the season at Flemington on Wednesday.
The Graham Begg-trained filly Mildred won the 900m dash from Divine Caprice (Sebring) and Cut It Out (Kuroshio), somewhat unexpected after she beaten over four lengths in an 800m barrier trial at Cranbourne.
Hinchinbrook also sired the winner of last season's opening 2YO in Victoria – the Maribyrnong Trial winner Unite And Conquer.
Begg's father, the former champion trainer Neville Begg, paid only $45,000 for Mildred at the Sydney Classic Sale,
She is out of the stakes-winning mare Tempest Tost, a Statue Of Liberty half-sister to G1 winner Notoire and the stakes winner Well Known.
Tempest Tost is also the dam of the winners Chalk (Canford Cliffs), Salterton (Fastnet Rock) and Leaven Of Malice (Sebring).
Wednesday's Murray Bridge meeting saw Sisstar, a sister to multiple G1 winner Sunlight, record a first-up win.
Sisstar (Zoustar x Solar Charged by Charge Forward) was placed in the G3 Dequetteville Stakes in April and had won her debut at Murray Bridge by seven lengths.
