Arrowfield Stud announced on Tuesday the stallion was under veterinary care after being diagnosed with a pulmonary disease, which had shown no improvement despite treatment.

Arrowfield's Chairman John Messara said, "He suffers respiratory compromise at rest and even short periods of hand walking exacerbate this."

"Our Head Vet has advised that Not A Single Doubt is incapable of performing his breeding duties and accordingly he has been retired from active service."

"Not A Single Doubt is a wonderful story for Arrowfield and for many breeders, owners, buyers and trainers, rising from the bottom of our roster to become one of Australia's most popular and successful stallions," Messara added.

"We are immensely grateful to him, and he will be loved and cared for at Arrowfield for the rest of his life."

From the first crop of Arrowfield's champion sire Redoute's Choice, who died last year, Not A Single Doubt is the sire of 69 individual stakes winners including 11 Group 1 winners.

This season alone he is already represented by seven stakes scorers headlined by Group 1-winning pair Samadoubt and Scales Of Justice, with the former landing the Winx Stakes (registered as Warwick Stakes) (Gr 1, 1400m), while the latter added a second top-level race to his CV in the Memsie Stakes (Gr 1, 1400m) in August.

Having started his career at stud in 2005 standing for a fee of $13,750 (inc GST), Not A Single Doubt worked his way through the ranks and commanded his highest fee of $110,000 (inc GST) in 2019 and covered 94 mares.

The stallion's 32 yearlings sold at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale earlier in the month made a gross of $11,025,000, selling for an average of $344,531.

Not A Single Doubt has two lots catalogued during Book 1 of the New Zealand Bloodstock's Karaka 2020 Sale and five lots catalogued at both the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale and the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.
