Double Halo Has Edge On Rivals

3 minute read

A sharp drop back in grade should see the Luke Griffiths trained Double Halo return to the winner's stall this afternoon when he lines up in the third race at Scone.

Having been safely held in the Jungle Juice Cup last start the son of Dubleo appears set to face a far easier task this afternoon and should be better suited back on firmer footing.

While his form in the wet is quite strong his best performances have clearly come on firmer footing which was seen three starts back when finishing a close fourth behind Iggi Pop at Rosehill.

A big pointer for this afternoon's event is his great record at his home track, in nine starts at Scone he has collected one win and four minor placings and appears set to relish the step up to 1400m.

On best form he rates two pounds clear of his nearest rival Emotional Outburst and has drawn to receive all the favours in on the rails.

A proven model of consistency expect Alysha Collett to take a sit just off the speed with the five-year-old with the Allan Kehoe trained Crown Of Snippets expected to take up the running.

With not a lot of speed engaged in this affair it could see Double Halo take up a more forward position as he wouldn't want to be spotting them to big a start with the top weight.

Although he faces a few rivals here in good form the fact is there isn't another horse in this race who could get within two-and-a-half lengths of Fontelina and on that note he should prove too classy.

The Mark Mason trained Emotional Outburst has returned in good order this time in and appears set to reach his peak racing third up.

Having shown good improvement second up at Tamworth last start when finishing a narrow second he comes into this race on the fresh side and on raw ratings shapes as the main danger.

Yet to miss the money in three attempts over this trip he is expected to settle just off the speed and be charging home late right into the finish.

The Kris Lees trained Project Compassion appears set to show good improvement third up having proved fair in both starts this time in.

Another galloper who should improve further back on firmer footing she too possesses a good record over this trip and looks well placed down in the weights.

If either of the top two prove to have any chinks in their armour expect the daughter of Dubai Destination set ready to pounce.

Of the rest Covent Hill and and Crown Of Snippets appear the next in line.
