The three-year-old gelding led all the way in similar at Mudgee last start running to a weight-adjusted Timeform figure of 85, and should have too much class for this lot.

Timeform takes a closer look at each horse’s chances.

1. Hewentwhoosh - Has been ultra consistent in recent times, placing in his last four outings. Backs up quickly into this and is in the mix.

2. Howdiddydoit - Back in grade at Grafton last start and was not too far away on that occasion. This an easier task again and he is worth plenty of consideration.

3. Kinetics - Claims the highest peak Timeform rating of the field and has finished runner up in his last two outings. Drawn well in barrier 2 and will be in the finish again.

4. Lancelot - Led from start to finish last start and came away with a win at this track over 1400m last start. Has strong claims here on the back of that effort and will be hard to beat.

5. Temperate Prince - Runner up in his last two outings but takes on a handy field today. Has now been over a year since his last win and place looks best.

6. Gokstad - Good win two back but runs on either side have been only moderate. Happy to oppose in this.

7. Criminal Mind - Runner up last start but finds himself up in class today. Not the roughest in this field but has just the minor claims.

8. Our Heart - Recent run of form has been below what is required here and looking elsewhere for the winner at this stage.

9. Park Heir - Stepped up to the mile for the first time this prep last start and failed badly. Hard to see him figuring here.

10. Zarletta - Form on either side of a spell has been poor. Can't enthuse here.

VERDICT: Lancelot was a last start winner and has been racing well in recent times. Winning jockey stays on board and he will be hard to beat once again. Kinetics rates well in this field and has finished runner up in his last two outings. Big danger. Hewentwhoosh also must be respected in this on the back of four placings in a row.
