Mestalla To Continue Winning Run

3 minute read

A debut victory for his new stable at Bathurst last start, leaves the Matthew Dunn trained Mestalla well placed to make it back to back at Murwillumbah this afternoon.

Formerly under the care of Chris Waller, the son of Northern Meteor had shown good ability previously and wasn't required to run a career peak when victorious last start.

Stepping out for just his sixth career start in the third event, Mestalla is well placed on Timeform weight adjusted ratings.

Currently top-rated on 50 day and 12 month figures, Mestalla does appear capable of overcoming the wide draw.

The in-form Tegan Harrison links aboard for the first time and is enjoying a great run of form for the Matthew Dunn stable, currently striking at 19 per cent.

Mestalla looks to possess more upside than the majority of his rivals, given he is the least raced and he should prove hard to beat.

The Paddy Cunningham trained Carry Me Gee Gee returned in fair order at Coffs Harbour last start and does appear the main danger in this affair.

While he only possesses the sole victory to his name, he has placed on a further four occasions and is capable on best form.

With the aid of the claim he does appear well placed and is expected to make his presence felt.

The Stephen Lee trained Handled continued his good run of form at Ballina last start and shapes as the next in line.

Successful in recording a new career peak last start, Handled does is open to further improvement leading into this affair, and cannot be taken lightly.

From the good draw he is expected to roll forward and give them all something to catch.

Of the rest the Peter Williams trained Vilayet stays under strong notice, when set to make his return from a three month break.

Having finished his last campaign in fair order at this track, he does rate well on Timeform weight adjusted ratings and has trialled well in the lead up.

His main concern is his long run of outs (1689 days) but nonetheless, this isn't an overly strong affair and with any luck in running he looks to hold solid place claims.

Good luck and happy punting.
