St Luke To Continue Winning Run At Tamworth

3 minute read

St Luke has been racing in very good form of late and should be hard to hold out at Tamworth today.

Stepping out in the Tamworth City Toyota Class 3 Handicap over 1200m (Race 5 #5), the three-year-old gelding is shooting for three wins in a row and is yet to miss the placings from all four career starts.

Won at this C/D just two starts back and back to his home course looks right up to winning here. Samantha Clenton maintains the ride having ridden St Luke in his last three outings.

The Leon Davies-trained runner is likely to push forward from barrier eight and he rates very well here on what he has produced in recent times.

The scratchings of Topmast and Isabelle Rose make it an even easier task for St Luke and the current price of $1.80 looks very good against this small field.

Opera Blu looks the main danger having put two wins together before running seventh at Grafton last start when carrying 64.5kg.

Drops back in weight on that effort but still has a bit to find if he is to get past St Luke with 61.5kg.

Henny Fusaichi also stays under notice after resuming with a last start fourth placing at this C/D.

Form was good in tougher company last campaign at the provincials and he should get a good run from the inside draw off the pace.

Likely to strip fitter after his first up effort and despite looking for a bit more ground can still play a part over the 1200m.

Expecting these three to fight in out in this small field with the resuming Slippery Eel the best of the rest.

Long time between wins now however and hard to make a strong case for him today.

With plenty of upside and improvement to come St Luke should be continuing his winning run and with only a small field lining up should not find any trouble.
